Negotiations with EBRD on second phase of project of science-technology parks in Serbia

Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation Jelena Begovic and Minister for Public Investment Darko Glisic spoke with President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Odile Renaud-Basso about continuing cooperation, with an emphasis on the development of science parks in Serbia.

Odile Renaud-Basso expressed her satisfaction with the realization of that project, which is aimed at strengthening the innovation infrastructure in Serbia. She added that it is necessary to work additionally on strengthening the capacities of these institutions, it is said on the website of the Government of Serbia.

Director of the EBRD for the Western Balkans Matteo Colangeli also emphasized the importance of the second phase of the project and that its focus should be on the existing science parks and their networking.

After the meeting, EBRD representatives visited Belgrade Science Park together with Minister Begovic, where the Star Venture Program pitch session was held, during which seven selected startups from Serbia presented their innovations to the jury, but also the delegation of the EBRD and the Ministry of Science, so as to ensure their place in the Star Venture Program of the EBRD.

The startups which presented their innovations are Devoak, Beyond42, Farmit, BeeBoo Treesury and Valuator.


On this occasion, Begovic pointed out that the cooperation with the EBRD has been extremely important so far due to the support that this financial institution provides to projects related to the development of the innovation ecosystem in Serbia, above all when it comes to the construction of science parks, and even now, when the construction of BIO4 Campus is being discussed.

Also, they support Serbia’s startup ecosystem through their projects, noted Begovic and added that, with the representatives of the EBRD, she visited the Science-Technology Park Belgrade, where all the activities and successes achieved so far in it were summed up.
