The interest of citizens in producing electrical energy for their own needs is growing on a daily basis. So far, a total of 76 natural and 9 legal persons have been listed in the Register of Consumers-Producers. Their solar power plants have a total power of 2.2 MW (more specifically, 2,253 kW).

Although there are many more natural persons than legal ones, the total installed power of their solar power plants is considerably smaller – 636.815 kW. The majority of households’ solar power plants have a power of 5 to 10 kW.

The total installed power of the solar power plants of the 9 legal persons is 1,616.88 kW. What’s interesting is that no residential unit has yet been listed in the Register of Consumers-Producers.

At the moment, the biggest prosumer is the company Eko Step Pellet, which, with a solar power plant with a capacity close to 1 MW has officially become the biggest consumer-producer of electrical energy in Serbia. The company Eko Step Pellet, which produces 34,000 tons of 100% beechwood pellet annually, has become the first Serbian factory to make a solar power plant under the new law.

It was connected to the system of Elektrodistribucija Srbije on June 20, the installed power of the solar power plant is 999.5 kW, whereas the approved connection power is 1,300 kW.

The built solar power plant, according to the projected conditions, should produce around 1,300,000 kWh a year. As the factory’s consumption has been around 5,900,000 kWh so far, it can be concluded that the savings will be round 22% annually, whereas the annual reduction of the emission of harmful gases (CO2) will be 1,100 tons, says the company, which is a member of the RES Serbia association.

The second biggest prosumer is the company Gruner Serbian doo Vlasotince, with a solar power plant of 500 kW. The third one is AS Impeks from Smederevo, with a solar power plant of 47 kW.
