Employees at the Republic Geodetic Authority (RGA) ended their strike after talking to Serbian Minister of Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Policy Zoran Djordjevic and representatives of the cabinet of Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, the ministry announced on January 21.
As said, “an agreement was made and a compromise was reached that is acceptable to all parties in the dispute, all to the end of reducing the negative effects of the strike on citizens”.
The Strikers Committee of the RGA Nezavisnost trade union and the RGA Trade Union Organization initiated the strike on December 6, 2018, demanding a raise in salaries.
In the past month, citizens in the majority of Serbia's territory have not been able to have any administrative procedures related to the land registry done due to the strike. The secretary of the Nezavisnost trade union, Nebojsa Pejcinovic, says for Beta that the agreement with the Ministry of Labor entails the payment of the abolished bonuses and earnings based on special vocations of cadaster officials over the next year, due to which the salaries in 2018 were reduced by 35%.
– We have agreed for the reduction to be compensated for over the next year and to have regular raises calculated this year – Pejcinovic said.
He added that the establishment of a working group which would define the status of cadaster officials and the withdrawal of all reports against workers filed during the strike had also been agreed at the meeting.
