The construction of a fast route from Backi Breg to Srpska Crnja is to begin on December 13, announced the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic.

Vesic also announced that, in the next week, the part of the Morava Corridor to Kosevi above Krusevac would be opened, and that the construction of the Belgrade-Zrenjanin-Novi Sad highway was to begin some 10 days later.

– We will start building the fast route from Backi Breg to Srpska Crnja on December 13. The road with a length of 186 kilometers will connect Backi Breg, that is, the border crossing with Hungary, Sombor, Kula, Srbobran, Novi Becej, Stari Becej, Kikinda and Srpska Crnja, that is, the border with Romania – said Vesic.

He added that the Romanian partners were building their part of the border and that the Hungarian partners were also doing their part in the north, with a bridge on the Danube near Mohacs. Vesic said that, upon the completion of this project, Backi Breg would become a large border crossing, larger than Horgos.

– In around 10 days, we are also beginning to build the Belgrade-Zrenjanin-Novi Sad highway, the preparatory works have already begun. Later on, we will be building the road from Novi Becej to Zrenjanin, in order to connect the “smiley” route and the highway and we will establish a network of roads in the whole Banat, which has been neglected – the minister emphasized.
