The Ruma-Sabac highway, around 22 kilometers long, will open to traffic on Saturday, pointed out the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Goran Vesic. As he said, this includes the bridge on the Sava, 1,355 meters long, a branch which connects with the IB-grade road of around 400 meters, as well as a total of 700 meters of the section of the fast road toward the Drenovac Interchange, so a total of 24.6 kilometers will open to traffic.

– Currently, over 490 kilometers is being built, including what is to open now – Vesic said on TV and announced that, the next month, the part of the Morava Corridor to Pojate would open, whereby Krusevac would be connected to the highway.

– In the coming period, agreements on another two big traffic routes will be signed, which are Belgrade-Zrenjanin-Novi Sad with a length of 105 kilometers and the “Vojvodina Smile”, the traffic route which connects Backi Breg, Sombor, Kula, Vrbas, Srbobran, Stari Becej, Novi Becej, Kikinda and Srpska Crnja, with a total length of over 190 kilometers. If we add to it everything else that is being planned, we can freely say that never in the history of Serbia has there been more road and fast road construction activity – Vesic said.
