At an exhibition at the Palace of Serbia, the design which won the public international architectural-urban planning contest “Studentski grad - Beograd” was presented.

Considering the need for increasing the accommodation capacities of the students’ homes within the university center, the Ministry of Education, with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), had opened the contest for the development of the complex, the construction of new facilities at the Studentski Grad complex in New Belgrade and the reconstruction of the existing ones, the announcement says. The contest was carried out by the Union of Architects of Serbia.

A total of 21 applications was sent in response to the contest, and the jury, presided over by architect Dr Grozdana Sisovic, unanimously decided to award first prize (USD 28,000) to the Nous Architecture studio from Turkey. From the total prize fund of USD 56,000, aside from first prize, two designs were awarded with USD 7,000 each, whereas another five designs were awarded with USD 2,800 each.

Based on the winning design, as the next step, what follows is the preparation of the urban planning-technical and project documentation, after which the ministry will publish the tender for the execution of the works, which should begin in the second half of 2024.
