At yesterday's session, the government of the Republic of Serbia adopted the Decree on limiting the price of basic foodstuffs, in order to protect the market and prevent distortions in the formation of prices of goods that are extremely important for supplying consumers, especially poorer category.

The decree limits both the producers’ prices and the retail and wholesale prices of flour type T-400 smooth in a packaging up to 5 kilograms, including 5 kilograms, flour type T-500 in a packaging up to 5 kg, including 5 kg, edible sunflower oil in a packaging of one liter and pork leg, so that they don’t exceed the level of prices from November 15, 2021.

Also, the maximum retail price of UHT milk with 2.8% milk fat in a packaging of one liter, the maximum margin that traders need to calculate in, as well as the maximum retail and producers’ prices of white crystal sugar per kilogram, were proscribed.

The decree was adopted considering that the prices of ingredients and producers’ inputs are still high, and the situation in the markets in the country and the surroundings is still not predictable enough. Due to this, it is necessary to continue implementing the measure of limiting the prices of these products, it is said on the website of the Government of Serbia.

At today's session, the Decision on temporary restriction of exports of basic agri-food products important for the population was passed, which determines the amount of sunflower seed oil in retail packages for which exports are allowed on a monthly basis.

The decision was made keeping in mind that it was necessary to enable the realization of the signed agreements to the highest extent possible, for the purpose of preserving the traditional market, while taking care of having the local market supplied, it is added.
