Trsic, Zdrelo and Bela Voda in UNWTO’s Best Tourism Villages Contest

The villages of Trsic, Zdrelo and Bela Voda have been pronounced the best tourism villages in the Republic of Serbia at the contest organized by the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications. This year, they will represent Serbia at the Best Tourism Villages contest organized by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), according to the website of the ministry.

Trsic, near Loznica, is the birth place of Vuk Stefanovic Karadzic, has as its highlight the Historic Landmark Trsic, an outdoor museum of sorts, with a great cultural and tourism value, with Vuk’s Property with Vuk’s Memorial House standing out.

Zdrelo, at the meeting point of the Mlava River, the Stig Plain and the peaks of the Homolje Mountains, from which numerous mountaineering trails lead to the peaks Vukan and Mali Vukan, also boasts the VIA FERATOM path, attractive in terms of both sports and tourism. The Reskovica Monastery and the Holy Trinity Monastery, raised on the foundations of 14th-century monasteries, are also located in Zdrelo.

Bela Voda, a village near Krusevac, is rich with mineral and drinking waters and known for its “Belovodski Pescar” (“Bela Voda Sandstone”), which is featured in the architectural works built in the Morava style. The village is also famous for the Special Nature Reserve “Osredak” and a number of cultural events, such as the Bela Voda Rose Windows of Serbia, sculpting colonies, mosaic-making colonies.


Mokra Gora was pronounced one of the Best Tourism Villages in the world last year as an example of a rural destination with a huge potential for the improvement of village tourism at the UNWTO contest.
