The 2022 Budget Law envisages revenues of RSD 1,516.8 billion and expenditures of RSD 1,717 billion, so the budget deficit will be RSD 200.2 billion, that is, 3% of the gross domestic product (GDP). The budget for next year also envisages that the Republic of Serbia can approve project and program loans up to the amount of RSD 2,480,349,462,529.

One of the loans is planned from the Government of the Russian Federation and it pertains to the development of the city railway system, that is, the Belgrade Diameters project, for which an enormous amount of EUR 1.3 billion (RSD 153,400,000,000) is planned in next year’s budget.

The Belgrade Diameters project was also discussed at the first meeting of the Serbian-Russian Science and Technology Council for Project Implementation, which was held in May 2021, when it was announced that the city railway in the capital of Serbia would develop with the help of Russia.

The ambassador of Russia to Serbia, Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko, said at the time that the project deserved to be supported by the Russian Federation.

– The project was conceived during the conversations of the deputy prime minister of Russia, Yury Borisov, with the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, and the prime minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, within the intergovernmental committees for cooperation between Russia and Serbia. As for the embassy, you can always count on our support during the realization and implementation of this project. It fully fits into the plan of the development of Belgrade, the traffic, and it is also a great achievement that it has an economic importance and a pronounced humanitarian, human dimension – said Botsan-Kharchenko.

At the invitation of the Russian company Sinara Transport Machines – STM, a delegation of the PUE Beogradski metro i voz visited the company’s facilities this June in Ekaterinburg, where the further cooperation on the Belgrade Diameters project was discussed.
