The PE EPS, the TE-KO Kostolac branch, has opened the tender for the continuation of geological exploratory works in the function of the expansion of the Drmno open-pit mine by 12 million tons of lignite.

The project documentation emphasizes the relatively low degree of the geological exploration of the Drmno lignite site and cites data on 384 tons of balance reserves, 270 million tons of out-of-balance reserves and 173 million tons of potential reserves of coal.

According to the project task, the exploratory works will be realized over three years, and 70 geological exploratory boreholes are designed.

– The aim of these explorations is to make the network of exploratory boreholes denser and, upon the completion of this phase, to also do a classification of the mining reserves of coal into proven and potential mining reserves – the document says.

The tender expires on December 24.
