The minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Tomislav Momirovic, has visited the construction site where a new airport flight control tower and the building of the Flight Control Center Belgrade are being built within the Nikola Tesla Airport and said that the investments in that project amount to EUR 22 million.

Momirovic pointed out that the SMATSA and the Government of Serbia invested EUR 17.5 million in the new control cover and an additional EUR 5 million in state-of-the-art equipment, the government announced.

He also said that large investments in the Nikola Tesla Airport were planned together with the partners in Vinci, as well as the reconstruction of the airport in Nis, which will be three times as large as the current one.

Also, as he added, additional funds were invested in the Ponikve Airport, and investments in the Morava Airport are planned as well.

The director of the SMATSA, Predrag Jovanovic, pointed out that, after 60 years, the Belgrade Airport and the Flight Control would get a new tower with a height of 75 meters, with an operating room on the top, with 120 square meters, where state-of-the-art equipment will be installed.

A total of EUR 17,443,870 is set aside for the construction of the facility, and the completion of the construction is expected by the end of this year, which is to be followed by the handover, the technical examination of the built facility and the obtaining of the exploitation permit.

The installation of the devices and systems for the provision of the services of flight control and the necessary integration with other systems are planned for early 2022. The investment value of the operating segment of the project is close to EUR 4,900,000.
