Aida under the open sky at the Petrovaradin fortress on September 15

In the year when the whole world marks 120 years since the death of Giuseppe Verdi, the Opera of the Serbian National Theater honors that and two other important jubilees - theater's 160th anniversary and 150 years since the first premiere of Aida, by performing that epic opera on September 15 the way the composer has imagined, under the clear sky, among the walls of the Petrovaradin fortress.

The opera will be conducted by the guest from Italy, Andrea Solinas. Serbian National Theater has continued its cooperation with the young and talented director from Belgrade Aleksandar Nikolic, and the choreography was done by Aleksandar Ilic.

- Aida is one of the most demanding music and stage projects and we think that it is extremely bold move to even dare taking such a step. The state should stand behind the endeavor of such size and importance, so that we can stimulate other institutions to dream big, all to the satisfaction of the audience - said Assistant Minister of Culture and Information Radovan Jokic, who visited the construction site of the currently largest stage in the Balkans.
